Day 2

Harley had a pretty good night.  He woke me up at 1:30 and 6:30 to go outside.  He was sleeping in the powder room this morning, which is one of his favorite spots to sleep.  He is hopping around pretty good.  I had to go into the office today, so my husband stayed home to watch Harley.  At one point he disappeared and my husband found him upstairs!  That’s where I usually work, so maybe he was looking for me.  My husband carried him down.  He got up to greet me when I got home and seems to be getting back to his old self a little.  Tomorrow he goes back to see the vet so they can check his bandage.  I hope he doesn’t freak out having to go back there so soon!

  1. Glad Harley had a good night! Aren’t they determined when they want something … against better judgment sneaking off upstairs like that.

He’ll be back to his old self in no time.

  2. Sounds like he’s doing well!!! Good for Harley! And good for you and your family 🙂

  4. Good for Harley! What a relief for everyone, and amazing that he has already figured out the stairs.

Now you can relax a little, hopefully.

  5. So glad that Harley is home and starting to feel better. 🙂

You should really put some kind of barrier at the bottom of the stairs for now, so that Harley doesn’t escape from you guys and try to climb up again. Way too much stress on the incision so soon after surgery for a big dog. Just imagine if he tried going down the stairs by himself…

My biggest fear with Jake after his surgery, was that he’d break his remaining leg from all the extra weight… Of course, that never happened… but I was totally paranoid! 🙂

How’s Harley’s appetite? How’s he handling his pain meds? What’s he taking? I wish Harley a super speedy recovery!!!

Sending you all a big hug!!

  7. Dads are really good for carrying us but boy do they make lousy sitters!

Keep up the good work Harley – get some rest or you’ll really be sore!
